Game Recap

The Panthers lost a hard fought game to Myrtle Beach 66-65. The game was very competitive all night long. Both teams played hard and competed all night. After a back and forth 1st half the Panthers were able to take a 2 point lead into half time. A 20 point third quarter followed by some hot shooting to start the 4th propelled Myrtle Beach into a double digit lead halfway through the 4th quarter. The Panthers were having big trouble keeping Myrtle Beach out of the paint, Myrtle Beach’s dribble penetration was dominant. With the Panther’s back against the wall they came up with some outstanding pressure defense that lead to numerous turnovers by Myrtle Beach and easy points for the Panthers. Along with some missed FT’s by Myrtle Beach, the Panthers fought all the way back to be down 1 with just 4 seconds left in bounding the ball. The Panthers got a uncontested deep 3 pointer off but it did not go. Myrtle Beach escaped with the victory. Next week the Panthers look for revenge playing North Myrtle Beach Tuesday at home and then Myrtle Beach away on Friday. Scoring breakdown: Matt Beale 18, Mason Garcia 16, Derek Alston 11, Kyle Watkins 10, T-Jay Brunson 6, Kevin Jackson 2 and Freddie Kane 2.
