Carolina Forest traveled to South Florence Tuesday night in the second region game of the season. The final score was 8 – 4 but for a little part of the game the score was tied! This was the first real battle back and forth of the season for the Lady Panthers. The game started off great for Carolina Forest with three quick goals within the first 10 minutes of the game. The first goal was scored by #11 Sidney Croland assisted by #2 Reilly Ward. This was a great cross by #2 Ward from the left and Croland was there to put it in the back of the net. Goal number 2 was from #3 Lexi Lilly with the assist coming from #7 Emma Bucci. Lilly stayed with the ball even through some defenders to find her shot for the goal. The next goal for the Panthers also was scored by #3 Lilly this time assisted by #2 Reilly Ward. This was also a great cross by Ward that was on the ground in the perfect spot for Lilly to rip the ball into the net. After this point in the game South Florence started to make their comeback. They have two great players that play up top and were able to find some space in the defense to get their first goal around the halfway point of the first half. Carolina Forest was able to get one more score in the first half which was scored by #7 Emma Bucci assisted by #2 Reilly Ward. This goal was coming off a corner kick that the girls kept after and kept trying to find their space and found the goal. South Florence added two more goals near the end of the half to make the halftime score 4 – 3 CF. The second half did not start that well for the Panthers either allowing South Florence to get a quick goal off a free kick from a foul called on Carolina Forest. This is when the game was tied 4 – 4 and it was go time for the Panthers. They turned on the burners and went after the Bruins and did not look back. The first goal of the second half was from #3 Lexi Lilly assisted by #11 Sidney Croland. The next goal was from #7 Emma Bucci with a hard shot that bounced off the back of a South Florence player and found its way into the back of the net. The next goal for the Panthers was also scored by #7 Bucci this time assisted by #10 Kacey Miller. The last goal scored for Carolina Forest was scored by #14 Ally Niles assisted by #11 Sidney Croland. Once the Bruins tied up the game something inside the Panthers started to boil and they went on fire for the rest of the game. Despite the score the defense played their hearts out as well and into the second half they shut down their top two players from scoring again after that 4th goal. This was a great region win for the Panthers. Carolina Forest will travel to St. James on wednesday to match up against the Sharks.
