Last night we made our long road trip of the season to Sumter High School for our match against the Gamecocks. The final score was 6 – 0 in favor of the Panthers. Sumter came out in the start of the match and pressured our defense right away but we were able to handle the pressure and calm down to find our offensive players and find a goal. The first goal was scored by #17 Jesse Parrott assisted by #3 Lexi Lilly. This is where we all took a deep breath and went back to work. The second goal of the first half was scored by #3 Lexi Lilly off a deflection, way to be in the right place at the right time! The halftime score was 2 – 0. In the second half we were able to continue to pressure their back line and we kept taking shots on the keeper. The next goal was another example of being in the right time, #2 Reilly Ward scored a goal off a deflection from Lexi’s shot. The next goal was very similar to Reilly’s goal but this time it was #1 Graycen Queener who was in the right spot and got the goal off of the first deflected shot. Way to keep working ladies!! Next we had #3 Lexi Lilly score assisted by #13 Maddie Zettergren on a nice through ball. The last goal of the match was scored by #10 Kacey Miller assisted by #5 Gianna Pavone right towards the end of the match. These ladies never stopped giving it their all the entire night. Our defense tonight and really all these matches this year have played fabolous by keeping the scoreboard clean or held opponents to just one goal. Our starting defense tonight was #16 Angelina Bourcier, #5 Gianna Pavone, #13 Maddie Zettergren, #12 Gabby Giracello and goalie #14 Ally Niles. These ladies might not always get the fancy write ups but they are one strong defensive core and they contribute greatly to every game. Great win tonight ladies!
