The Panthers boys varsity basketball team fell up short in a Saturday evening road contest at Marion. The Panthers capitalized on two free throws from a pre-game technical foul based on a clerical error on the Swamp Foxes’ part, putting them ahead 2-0 at the tip-off. Unfortunately, the Panthers were only able to score one more field goal in the 1st quarter due to a stifling defensive effort by the Swamp Foxes. After falling behind early, the Panthers spent most of the game trying to catch back up, finally re-capturing the lead at the close of the 3rd quarter. The fourth quarter saw the two teams battling for the lead. After a big three pointer by the Swamp Foxes, the Panthers fell down by one in the closing seconds. A closing effort by the Panthers fell just short, leaving them trailing by just one point at the final buzzer.
