Athletic Program Structure & Overview

Athletics at Carolina Forest have a unique structure and may be a bit confusing to those new to school based athletics in Horry County. Below is a brief description of our athletic program structure at Carolina Forest High School.

With the rapid growth of the Carolina Forest community it should be no surprise that Carolina Forest High School is the 4th largest high school in the state of South Carolina serving approximately 2600 students.

Athletically, Carolina Forest High School is a member of the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) and competes in Region VI of the 5A classification; the states largest classification.  The athletic department at CFHS, with assistance from the CFHS All Sports Booster Club, oversees and funds all SCHSL sanctioned athletic teams at the varsity and sub varsity levels to include middle school athletic teams at each of our feeder middle schools; Blackwater Middle, Ocean Bay Middle, and Ten Oaks Middle. Carolina Forest competes has roughly 580 student athletes competing in 20 varsity sports. Combined with our middle schools the CFHS athletic department serves approximately 1100 student-athletes comprising 54 sports teams at the varsity, junior varsity, and  “B team” levels who compete in over 500 contests annually.

Below is a general list of that structure displaying sports offered by season, school, and level of competition.
